Domino's Inkjet Finds Niche With Software Printer
Beshara Press, the niche printing company for the software publishing industry, has invested in a Domino A400 to produce unique numbers on the back cover of manuals.
Among the reasons for Domino's success were its efforts in three specific areas, one of which was the company's speedy implementation of an automated order system.
Domino was praised in particular for the speed in which it introduced the IT system, which enables orders to be transferred automatically from the Post Office order system on to the Domino business system.
The process has increased efficiency as confirmations and invoices can be sent back electronically.
In addition, Domino's flexibility in dealing with product trials drew specific praise from Royal Mail.
Commenting, David Ellen, director of Domino's commercial printing division, said: "We made our facilities and staff available at short notice to conduct trials with new ink formulations, which has enhanced response times for product improvement and resolving raw material supply issues." Finally, Domino was also commended on its pro-active approach to reducing overall product costs by working with suppliers to regularly review prices and lower the cost of key components.
The awards ceremony was held for Royal Mail 'Gold Suppliers' and included a keynote speech delivered by Alan Leighton, Chairman of Royal Mail Group plc, who emphasised that Royal Mail was keen to develop long-term relationships with its key suppliers to reduce their overall number.
Domino's latest accolade follows the company's success in being awarded three Queen's Awards, of which two were for Export Achievement and one for Technology.
The company was also the first industrial inkjet company to gain the international quality accreditation ISO9000 both in the UK and the USA and in recent years, has won the Manufacturing Chemist Award for the Most Outstanding Innovation in a Packaging Related Product.
