Folio Bristol Ltd has ordered a Jetarray ink printer and Editor GT controller from Domino Commercial Printing in order to extend its range of trade services.
Folio Bristol Ltd has ordered a Jetarray ink printer and Editor GT controller from Domino Commercial Printing in order to extend its range of trade services.
Scheduled to be installed at the end of June, the Jetarray and Editor GT will be linked predominantly to the company's existing Stahl Flexomailer mailing line to provide addressing and sequential numbering.
The Jetarray's flexibility also enables Folio Bristol to apply personalisation or sequential numbering to its various forms of finishing, including saddle stitched and perfect bound books.
The order was placed after Folio's managing director Andy Bird had seen the inkjet equipment in action at Heidelberg UK Open Houses.
"It was always our intention to add personalisation to our services and have been in talks with Domino for some time.
We had an opportunity to see inkjet personalisation using a Domino printer and Editor GT at the Heidelberg showrooms in Brentford and Tamworth and to listen to Domino's presentation on effective use of inkjet at the finishing stage, so we decided it was time to make the investment," explained Andy Bird.
The Jetarray is Domino's versatile high-speed inkjet printer capable of printing up to eight lines of fully variable information in just one pass.
Suitable for a wide range of applications requiring printing of text offering a large selection of fonts, it can be fully integrated into a wide range of other suppliers' production equipment.
Used in conjunction with the Editor GT controller, the Jetarray offers precise text formatting and job management for optimum productivity in addressing and in-line personalisation.
At speeds of 3.4 metres per second, the printer allows variable height characters from 2.5mm to 4mm to be fixed or proportionally spaced, it can print a range of barcodes at 4mm height per line and can store 80 user specified logos per print job.
The Editor GT is a Windows NT-based inkjet controller package.
It is capable of handling all common data formats, fixed record length and delimited format and features automatic format detection.
As well as the mailing line used by Folio Bristol, the Editor GT is suitable for use with stitching, binding, wrapping, folding, newspaper lines and web applications.
Folio Bristol offers the widest range of trade services in the southwest of England, including conventional finishing, perfect binding, cutting and creasing and cut pocket make-up.
The addition of the Domino inkjet will enable it to extend its services immediately.
"We selected Domino because it is the most flexible and gives us the opportunity to add additional applications at a later stage.
We already produce a lot of specialised one piece mailing products including lick and stick features and now we can add personalisation we will be able to produce items for a wider range of one-to-one marketing applications," continued Bird.
Established 14 years ago, Folio Bristol currently employs 42 staff and generates a turnover of ?2 million per annum.
