Better Quality And Efficiency With New Laser
Domino Printing Sciences has added the DSL1 Pharma laser to its portfolio of scribing lasers, which it will be highlighting at the Interpack exhibition.
Domino Printing Sciences has added the DSL1 Pharma laser to its portfolio of scribing lasers, which it will be highlighting at the Interpack exhibition.
Building on Domino's established DSL1 laser, the DSL1 Pharma has been developed to meet the specific requirements of the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors, where there are increasing demands for improvements in print quality and line efficiencies combined with reducing batch sizes, said the company.
Domino claimed that the product differentiates itself via a number of software enhancements that allows manufacturers to easily comply with both GAMP 4 (Good Automated Manufacturing Practice) and 21CFR Part 11.
As with all Domino Pharmaceutical product variants, the DSL1 Pharma can be supplied with validation documentation, making installation simpler than alternative products and making upgrades from earlier technology, such as embossing, simple to achieve and cost effective.
Like the DSL1 laser, the latest addition to Domino's laser range offers a claimed superior quality and creates an indelible, permanent mark that makes it suitable for printing variable text, data matrix, graphics and serial numbering.
It is also said to be able to code on a variety of materials, allowing simple or complex coding on cartons, labels and blister packs, added the company.
Additionally, the DSL1 Pharma conforms to 21CFR Part 11 regulations which seeks to minimise the manipulation of information technology and computer systems at all stages of manufacturing within the pharmaceutical industry.
The regulation controls the use of electronic records and include strict administrative controls with electronic signatures.
The functions of the software is a key point for Domino, as it has been developed to provide secure control, with each user given pre-determined access rights to specific functions to provide complete control, said Domino.
Lee Metters, the pharmaceutical sector development director at Domino, commented: "The DSL1 Pharma raises the bar both in terms of its superior print quality in complex coding applications for wider fields and the degree of security it affords users.
Given that the product's usage is strictly controlled through user name and password protection measures, the DSL1 Pharma virtually eradicates problems associated with mis-coding or incorrect labelling of products in the pharmaceutical plant, and the complete validation and 21CFR11 system offers our customers a simple to implement solution." As with all Domino scribing lasers, the DSL 1 Pharma has been designed to IP54 standard for pharmaceutical-based production environments.
Its scanning and sealed CO2 laser is also said to guarantee consistent and reliable print quality in any orientation on stationary and high-speed lines.
