Domino Printing Sciences will showcase its latest variable data printing system, the high-speed K-Series, on stand 7K95 at Labelexpo in Brussels.

Domino Printing Sciences will showcase its latest variable data printing system, the high-speed K-Series, on stand 7K95 at Labelexpo in Brussels.

The exhibition will be the first time that the K-Series is demonstrated in Europe.

Alongside the K-Series, Domino will demonstrate its Bitjet+ binary printer, for high-speed, VDP applications - a development of the Bitjet 212 printer.

The K-Series, which uses drop on demand printing technology, is said to take Domino in to new areas that extend beyond the core capability of part personalisation and into complete printing of whole documents.

Launched after comprehensive research in to user requirements, in Domino's opinion, the K-Series responds to the increasing market need for fast printing without compromising on print quality.

Commenting on the European premier of the K-Series at Labelexpo, Philip Easton, Domino's product director of commercial printing, said: "The K-Series has been introduced to offer commercially viable applications that, whilst cost-effective, offer no compromise in the balance of speed and quality.

The user-friendly system is based on our proven technology of over almost 30 years as an ink jet pioneer and we are certain that its arrival will be welcomed by those users who constantly strive to increase their services to customers." The K-Series, whose flagship is the K200 printer is said to have three times the number of print nozzles than Domino's first generation of drop on demand printers.

In comparison, that makes the K200 capable of providing fast and accurate 300 dots per inch (dpi) printing at a claimed 90 metres per minute, which equates to a speed three times higher at the same print resolution.

As a result, print production of labels and direct mail is achieved far more efficiently, whilst the overall range of applications is increased thanks to the K-Series' higher specification, said Domino.

The K200 handles spot colour printing and will be offered with Domino CMYK UV inks.

Its claimed colour accuracy is also said to enhance quality, especially for plastic card applications.

Also on display will be Domino's Bitjet+ binary printer.

The result of continuous product development, the Bitjet+ features a number of key design enhancements that further increase efficiency and reduce job turn-around time for users.

In particular, Domino said it has pioneered the introduction of a ceramic charge electrode on the Bitjet+ to offer increased reliability and improved print quality through smoother ink break-off and lay-down.

The more robust ceramic charge electrode offers greater longevity before replacement and suffers less wear, significantly reducing service costs, added the company.

"Labelexpo is always a hugely important show for Domino and has provided the launch pad for a number of our products to the market in the past.

As with previous high-speed solutions for the label market, we expect the K-Series to provide a key talking point amongst exhibitors and visitors alike," said Philip Easton.
