Domino's Inkjet Finds Niche With Software Printer
Beshara Press, the niche printing company for the software publishing industry, has invested in a Domino A400 to produce unique numbers on the back cover of manuals.
The 'Winbledon' promotion features a unique code, printed on to the reverse of specially printed Robinsons squash bottle labels.
Consumers text the eight digit code to see if they have won exclusive centre court seats at the Wimbledon tennis championships.
The key to the success of this promotion was to find a cost-effective solution that would both generate and manage 60 million unique codes and print them on to bottle labels of varying sizes, in-line, within Tipografic's existing label production line at its Birkenhead (UK) facility.

50,000 And Counting For Ink Jet Printer Sales
Domino has made the shipment of its 50,000th A-Series printer - what it claims to be the world's best-selling continuous inkjet printer.
Up to nine Domino A400 high speed printers were installed across a Heidelberg B1 six-colour sheet fed litho press to deliver the unique codes, managed by a Domino Editor GT controller, capable of processing high quantities of variable codes to match Tipografic's just in time (JIT) production output.
Barry Davidson, Tipografic's production director, commented: "Domino has proved the perfect match.
Not only were we looking for a partner with an excellent track record, reliable technical support and proven experience in unique coding systems, we also required additional design and engineering expertise, which many suppliers were unable to provide." A specially constructed aluminium cradle had to be designed, manufactured and fitted to one of the printing decks to accommodate the nine A400 printing jets, which were necessary to print a random selection of codes across the sheet.
And, despite Robinsons bringing its production schedule forward by two weeks, Tipografic was able to respond well within schedule.
"We've been delighted with the performance, reliability and print quality of the Domino kit, as well as the advice and continuing technical support of the Domino team.
Furthermore, as a result of this successful print promotion, we have received considerable interest from new and existing customers to explore other promotional opportunities, which is a great boost to our business," added Davidson.
Domino's A-Series is said to be the world's best selling continuous inkjet printer and offers a fast, extremely reliable and high quality printing system that integrates in to new and existing production equipment, said the company.
The Editor GT is an inkjet Windows-based controller package that is said to offer total control of printing operations, including the management of variable data and unique codes.
