Domino's Senior Appointments Fuel Development

Domino Printing Sciences has expanded its group development team with the appointments of Kirsten Telfer as group software director and Chris Beesley as programme director.

Domino Printing Sciences has expanded its group development team with the appointments of Kirsten Telfer as group software director and Chris Beesley as programme director.

Part of Telfer's remit will be to identify and deploy best practices across the Domino Group such that, wherever software is developed, consistency is maintained in to enable wider compatibility across the range of Domino products, said the company.

Telfer holds a mathematics degree from Sheffield University and joins Domino from Thales Underwater Systems, a naval defence supplier of sonar systems.

Domino said that the international focus of Thales accustomed Telfer to working with teams in different locations and her time with the company saw her manage responsibility for software development activities across four sites.

Prior to her role at Thales, she began her career as a software engineer, progressing to roles in software and project management, where she managed teams of up to more than 50 software engineers.

Commenting on the key objectives of her new role, Telfer said: "I see my primary goal within Domino as the continued improvement of our software development practices.

This will ensure that confidence in our forecasting is maintained, whilst guaranteeing delivery on time, to budget and at a high quality." Chris Beesley has joined Domino from telecommunications component supplier Bookham, where he was project director for the last three years.

That role saw him lead new product introductions and manage research and development teams working on tunable laser and 10Gbit transmitter products.

As such, he assumed responsibility for technical delivery from multiple teams working on new product projects.

Before joining Bookham, he worked at Hewlett Packard for over 10 years and, more recently, held director level positions at both Marconi and a UK start-up facility for JDS Uniphase.

A graduate in physics from Bristol University and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Beesley will be responsible for developing and growing the programme management function within Domino.

That will focus on analysing the existing infrastructure for new projects and implementing enhancement opportunities to ensure an even more efficient and reliable process from creation to delivery, said Domino.
