Combination Press Gets First UK Installation

A Drent Goebel product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Apr 28, 2005

Triflex Productions has purchased a new Drent Goebel VSOP offset printing press.

Triflex Productions has purchased a new Drent Goebel VSOP offset printing press.

The eight-unit machine has a web width of 850mm (33.5") includes seven offset printing units and one flexo unit and will be installed in Triflex's new purpose built food packaging facility in Cheriton during September 2005.

David Procter, a director at Triflex, said: "We are delighted to be buying this new press from Drent Goebel, it is the first of its kind in the UK flexible packaging field." The machine provides a very flexible sleeve-based production platform and it is claimed to enable frequent repeat length changes without the historical problems of cost and inconvenience of full cassette changes, said Drent Goebel.

Drent Goebel believes that the appeal of the VSOP is the technology that overcomes the traditional barrier to web offset in packaging - that of the high cost of shape and size variation.

With the VSOP the printer now has an affordable offset alternative to higher-cost cassette type web offset presses, or slower sheet-fed offset and flexo web presses without comprising sheet-fed offset quality standards.

In addition to its affordable variable size and repeat length, fast make-ready and changeover capabilities, the VSOP is designed to offer high offset print quality and high efficiency even on short runs as well as user friendly, ergonomic operation, claimed the company.

Procter went on to say: "The VSOP press complements our existing capabilities and processes very well, and reinforces our business philosophy, which is to supply high quality point of sale graphics, short to medium run lengths with fast response and consequent high speed to market." Rob Schellekens, the director of marketing and sales at Drent Goebel, commented: "We are very pleased that Triflex has selected our patented VSOP press for its advanced new production facility.

We anticipate that it will be one of many converting systems we will provide to the flexible packaging industries in the UK.".
