Drupa '08's Tours To Guide Visitors Around Show

The organisers of the Drupa 2008 exhibition are trying to smooth the way for visitors to gain an overview of individual themes with guided tours spotlighting current industry developments.

The range of topics will run from workflow systems and Web2print, through to offset and digital printing, as well as packaging production and finishing.

Participants in groups of a maximum of 10 people will be taken to between six and eight exhibitors relevant to the tour.

Due to Drupa's increasingly international profile, the 2008 tours will not only be conducted in German and English but also, for the first time, in Chinese, Spanish and French, said the organiser.

The German and English-language tours will run daily (excluding weekends), whilst the Chinese, French and Spanish versions will be staged on alternate days.

Drupa project director, Manuel Matare, commented: "With that range of languages, we hope to cater to the diverse mix of visitor nationalities." Topics for the tours will include networked print production, the fundamentals of automated print production using Web2print techniques and creating printed products with an examination of design trends, image processing and layout.

Tour four will cover computer-to-plate and look at imaging technology together with appropriate plates, whilst the fifth tour's focus will be on digital printing systems and the products they are capable of producing.

There will also be a tour looking at inkjet printing, as well as one for offset printing, which will highlight how printers could improve their cost-effectiveness through automation.

The trends in in-line finishing, the systems and materials will be the subject of a further tour, as will packaging and label production innovations and print finishing with a specific emphasis on in-line production.
