Colour Direct Mail Will Reverse Response Decline
The positive impact that colour print can have on direct mail marketing and communications is discussed by Tim Delahay, the chief executive officer of DSTi Output.
The company explained that it has achieved the saving by implementing an environmental management system.
The scheme has reduced the waste and power consumption across all facilities of its main site in Bristol - including the production plant, offices and even the staff canteen.
The success of the scheme has also earned the company the ISO140001 accreditation, the international standard for environmental performance.

One Bill For Multiple Services Cuts Costs By 70%
Seventy per cent of transactional mail costs can be saved by companies with a new product from mailing company DSTi Output - Multibill.
Using enclosing machinery, DSTi Output has cut its energy consumption from 23 kWh for every 1,000 sheets to 18 kWh per 1,000 sheets.
That has resulted in a saving of approximately nine tonnes of paper per month which equates to a 20 per cent reduction in paper waste.
DSTi Output added that it also ensures that all waste that can be recycled is treated in that way - from product packaging to drinks cans from the canteen vending machine - resulting in a 30 per cent reduction in the waste the company sends to landfill sites.
Tony Gaskin, accreditations manager at DSTi Output, said: "Our objective is to ensure that we incorporate sustainable best business practices that add value to our shareholders, customers, employees and the communities in which we live and work.
The very nature of our business means there is a potential to produce a high level of waste and we inherently consume a large amount of power.
At a time when utility costs are at an all time high, this significant improvement in efficiency is a key achievement for the company." Developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), DSTi Output's ISO 140001 certification covers all aspects of the company's activities.
DSTi Output has also formed an environmental management team, which includes representatives from the operations and production department, to monitor national, European and global environmental legislative developments before they become law.
The company said that is approach enables DSTi Output to conform to future environmental legislation and voluntarily take action on specific issues through its environmental management system.
Tim Delahay, chief executive of DSTi Output, commented: "Implementing these changes means we are continuing to effectively reduce our footprint on the environment and eliminate unnecessary costs.
An ISO 140001 accredited environmental management system provides our customers, employees and shareholders with the assurance that our environmental performance meets, and will continue to meet, our legal and environmental policy requirements.".
