Production Software Is Ready For Intel-Based Apple
Dalim Software will have established compatibility for the new Intel-processor based Apple Macintosh systems throughout the Dalim Software production automation product line by the end of the year.
Finding its existing production workflow expensive and unsatisfactory Gutenberg looked for a reliable, fast and more affordable system.
The Dalim Folioswing workflow management system accepts all the file formats sent to Gutenberg and generates secure PDF, TIFF/IT, Postscript or even formatted Postscript files.
The company's workflow also includes the Xinet Fullpress OPI server, and DuPont Cromalin digital proofing systems, as well as Canon Edox and Z650 colour copiers with their associated RIPs.

Automatic Gravure Imposition For Cylinder Making
Dalim Software and Hell Gravure Systems have released Helioflow, an interface that is claimed to provide the first 'intuitive', automatic gravure imposition tool.
The open architecture is ideal for Gutenberg Online, said Dalim.
The speed at which files are processed and access to its enormous text and image database result in significant time savings, which are estimated to range from at least 20% to as much as 100%, depending on the workflow.
"Having used another developer's workflow, which couldn't truly meet our expectations, we were looking for an efficient solution," said Benedicte D'Argis, information systems director at Gutenberg Online.
"We had heard about Dalim Software's products and once we had taken a closer look, we saw that its solutions met our needs perfectly.
After purchasing our first Folioswing solution for our Digital55 site in Paris, we then acquired a Foliotwist workflow management system for Gutenberg in Saint-Etienne.
Now, as the needs of Gutenberg in Levallois have grown in terms of production speed, we have deployed a third solution, Folioswing2," she explained.
As a result, the group now has the ability to retrieve external files over the Internet, carry out the necessary processing and return the information to the client in a seamless process.
The Dalim software was deployed and customised by the Folio Espace Diffusion group.
Its sales director Philippe Bezaguet, who orchestrated the implementation as Gutenberg on line's needs expanded, pointed out that a close relationship was established right from the start of the collaboration.
"From a detailed analysis of the client's requirements we were able to customise the solution to suit their requirements perfectly and integrate it with their existing production system and techniques," he said.
According to Bezaguet, designers use the most recent versions of graphics software (Indesign, Quark, for instance) and an upgradeable, constantly updated solution was needed.
