Approval Ensures Monitor-Hard Proof Colour Matches
Dalim Software has received SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) certification for its Dialogue soft proofing system.
Dalim Software has received SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) certification for its Dialogue soft proofing system.
The certification confirms that Dialogue will consistently render colour accurately on a monitor and that hard copy proofs will match those viewed on screen, even for colour-critical projects, said the company.
Based on qualified testing, Dialogue v3.0 was SWOP certified for use with the GTI SOFV-1ex viewing booth and the GretagMacbeth Eye One Pro spectrophotometer, viewed on a 23" Apple Cinema display.
Further equipment configurations will be qualified on an continuing basis, added Dalim.
SWOP specifications offer a uniform standard of excellence in the print production of magazines, ensuring quality and consistency to the publishing industry and the specifications are a compilation of best practices achieved in publishing.
A system deemed SWOP certified is capable of producing proofs that match as closely as possible the appearance of a SWOP-certified press sheet.
Dialogue's data-streaming technology with standard web browsers is claimed to allow users to view high-resolution files accurately, in real time and without the need for client software or browser plug-ins, claimed Dalim.
Printers, publishers, advertising agencies and designers can offer their customers the ability to view, zoom in and out, navigate, place annotations, draw to highlight areas, take densitometer readings, check production parameters and 'chat' in real time, added the company.
Unlike other software that requires the user to either install a web-browser plug-in, or download and install a complete client application, Dialogue is said to be a stand-alone system that requires no client software whatsoever.
Because it is not an ASP product, there are no click charges for either the host (the printer) or their clients when viewing files.
Dialogue's software licensing doesn't restrict the number of concurrent users and any version of the software allows unlimited client access to the system, said Dalim.
Dialgoue is also said to support all current operating systems and is claimed to be the only stand-alone SWOP certified soft proofing application that runs on a Macintosh.
Gee Ranasinha, the director of marketing for Dalim Software, said: "We're pleased that now printers can now offer colour-accurate monitor proofing through Dalim Dialogue, without an open-ended fee structure.
It was important to our customers that beyond using Dialogue for content review, it was a colour-accurate system as well.
Because it features no click charges, it now offers printers and their customers a very reliable, efficient and cost-effective solution to their remote proofing requirements.".
