Olivier Ottin, the pre-press manager at Sud-Graphie, said: "There's absolutely no comparison.
The workflow automation management system has only been installed for a few days and the printing company is already delighted with the results.
The switch to Foliotwist is a natural evolution for Sud-Graphie, which specialises in printing advertising and regional periodicals." He continued: "Until now, the printing company had been using two Folioswing systems and was looking for a system to optimise workflow automation.
Previously, projects were sent manually to one or other of the systems and we had to optimise the page calculation.
Now, with Foliotwist, the system makes the decisions and automatically sends the files to the predetermined output unit.
This file handling process alone saves us an enormous amount of time." The other reason for the migration to Foliotwist was the ability to handle TIFF and IT files.
Olivier Ottin explained: "When clients give us an overprint in TIFF and IT format, we had to use a five-unit press.
However, sometimes, for scheduling reasons, we have to switch to a four-unit press.
Previously, we didn't have an automated system for ganging the full-colour TIFF and IT files and the overprint, and we had to subcontract that part of the job.
Now, we can gang the files and save even more time." A further advantage of Foliotiwst, according to Ottin, is that Sud-Graphie can modify and create workflows very simply, without any IT expertise.
"We can add a printer, create FPOs and set up much simpler job paths very easily," he added.
