At Ifra Expo Dalim Software will demonstrate its full range of open and scalable production workflow tools.

Dalim Software said that the workflow products can be configured as automatic tasks to suit the multi-format, multi-site, high productivity and high quality requirements of newspapers.

This year, Dalim focuses on a variety of tools that are claimed to provide control, automation and efficiency to newspapers, including automatic pre-flighting and validation for advertisement delivery, browser-based soft-proofing, planning and edition management, and ink control providing cost savings.

The company added that it will show the flexibility and productivity of its systems to meet demanding newspaper production requirements, including the latest version of the Twist automated workflow software - claimed to be the fastest, most flexible automated workflow system available.

Already 100 per cent compliant with all nine Ghent Workgroup PDF output, as well as Pass4Press v6 specifications, and running under the Mac OS X operating system, Ifra Expo will see the launch of a number of new features and enhancements to Twist.

They include XML-driven production workflows and JDF-driven file pre-flighting.

Highlights also include database-driven workflow, web-based job tracking and administration, automating page pairing, file conversions, ICC colour profiles application, UCR/GCR, and automatic delivery of one-bit TIFF, or PDF plate files to multiple sites.

Dalim's Dialogue SWOP-certified, stand-alone softproofing system for Mac OS X, is said to enable remote and collaborative viewing and soft proofing of high-resolution files (such as PDF, PDF/X, PostScript, CT/LW, TIFF, etc) in real time via a standard internet connection, without any click charges, ASP fees or client licensing.

Dialogue is also said to be the industry's first JDF-enabled softproofing application that integrates with a number of third party systems.

Also on show will be new features in Mistral, the web-based production management system that is the common electronic submission interface for production assembly and the interface for subsequent production tracking, administration, correction, approval and printing.

Enhanced features include greater integration with third party publication systems, versioning and advertising management capabilities and workflow enhancements.

"Newspapers worldwide are using its software to successfully manage the demands of multiple edition production planning, soft proofing, and multi-site print production automatically and to high quality standards," said Isabelle Billerey-Rayel, business development director at Dalim Software.

She added: "I believe this year's show will be characterised by strong interest from eastern Europe where interest and investment in streamlined production technology is accelerating.

We fully expect to announce new contracts in this region in the next few months.".
