Dalim Software and Hell Gravure Systems have released Helioflow, an interface that is claimed to provide the first 'intuitive', automatic gravure imposition tool.

Dalim Software and Hell Gravure Systems have released Helioflow, an interface that is claimed to provide the first 'intuitive', automatic gravure imposition tool.

Helioflow is the result of a joint technical venture between the two companies.

In cooperation with its partners, Hell Gravure Systems said it is focused on customised automation systems for the rotogravure industry.

The HelioKlischograph K6 engraver integrated in to the Autocon-line is said to offer a fully automated cylinder production and the technology developed in to the new industry standard over recent years.

Hell added that its target is to provide the market with the best equipment for optimised quality, the best cost and performance ratio and overall automation in gravure cylinder production.

For example, the new direct-to-cylinder engraving K6 device is a fully automated unit with up to 18 engraving channels.

It can produce gravure cylinders from 2.5 metres to 4.32 metres in length, resulting in large impositions, said the company.

The Helioflow system is also claimed to afford operators a greater level of production automation using an automated imposition engine built for the exacting and precise demands of the gravure printing industry.

Helioflow interfaces with the Hell Form Manager system, as well as with third-party management information systems and production databases, whether JDF-enabled or otherwise.

By using the Dalim Twist pre-media engine, Helioflow automatically creates a cylinder imposition without any manual intervention.

Operators, on a web browser can also receive a complete view of the imposition prior to engraving a cylinder.

Thus, they can administer, edit, manage and approve the imposition process on-the-fly, anywhere in the world, anytime, reducing errors and speeding turn-around time, it is claimed.

Dr Carol Werle, chief executive officer of Dalim Software, said: "Dalim Software is very happy to work with a company as prestigious as Hell Gravure Systems.

Its engraving systems are noted as the best in the world.

Yet, as a company that has many gravure customers as well-including many we share, we believed that we could provide Hell Gravure customers the benefit of increased productivity through remote file submission, advanced JDF-driven file pre-flighting, job status tracking and automated cylinder imposition." She added: "It is something which we have considerable expertise through our development of Dalim Mistral, which received the 2006 GATF Intertech Technology Award.

We are always pleased when a partnership provides true benefit to the customer.".
