The latest workflow developments will be highlighted before the Drupa 08 exhibition at the Dalim Software users conference in Bordeaux (France) on March 10 and 11.
Production Software Is Ready For Intel-Based Apple
Dalim Software will have established compatibility for the new Intel-processor based Apple Macintosh systems throughout the Dalim Software production automation product line by the end of the year.
Developed by Alwan Color Expertise, Alwan CMYK Optimiser Server utilises ICC Devicelink profiles at the heart of its system, said the company.
It is claimed to allow a pre-media or printing company to check and automatically and dynamically correct colour and ink weight characteristics of incoming files to meet defined standards, prior to sending them to film or plate.
Alwan CMYK Optimiser Server complements the high-end colour management features of Dalim's Twist.
Its optimisation process ensures output files are compliant with individual printing press profiles to improve file colour rendering and quality, shorten make-ready times and achieve stable printing conditions, said Dalim.
In addition, by ensuring ink values contained in the job files are linked to the destination press, Alwan CMYK Optimiser Server can provide up to a 30 percent saving in ink usage and, as a result, avoid potential set-off problems.
The Twist automated production workflow is claimed to have a high-level of functions, including database-driven production, web-based job tracking and administration and advanced ink control, for instance.
Including more than 150 standard workflow tools, Twist is said to permit configurations for publishing workflow requirements.
Examples could include automating page pairing, file conversions (such as PostScript to PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-3), applying ICC colour profiles to very complex specific workflows, and automatic delivery of 1-bit TIFF or imposed PDF files to multiple sites.
Stephane Georges, software product manager at Dalim Software, commented: "We continually evaluate technologies that could provide additional benefits to our clients and over the last few years have approved a range of third-party colour management applications that can be used in conjunction with our product line.
Adherence to open standards underlines all of our product development and gives users high levels of functions and flexibility within a highly streamlined workflow.".
