Cromalin investment confirms long relationship
Seven Worldwide installs DuPont Cromalin Digital proofing equipment.
Because it took an hour to reset the rotary machine to a different card format it was not viable to offer a wider range of product.
Nick Jenkins, managing director at Moonpig explained: "The DC-545HCEX has given us the opportunity to expand our product portfolio into A6 greeting cards and postcards.
With our new Duplo system, we can programme settings and switch between jobs with no set up time.
The products have given us a significant uplift in sales.
In addition we have made massive savings in the cost of finishing the A4 format cards." The DC-545HCEX is designed for finishing mono and colour output from digital presses.
It delivers a host of features, including the ability to read the printed image and automatically adjust and compensate for the common problem of image shift.
Hence the machine will trim, crease and slit in the right place around the image every time, reducing waste and ensuring high quality and optimum productivity claimed Duplo.
The company believes it is the only machine on the market that combines features of slitting, trimming and creasing in one single product so applications requiring these three functions can be handled in a single pass.
Nick Jenkins continued: "When we made the decision to find a new finishing solution, we explored several options and the DC-545HCEX was the only programmable machine which can crease and slit in one pass.
For finishing greeting cards it is unbeatable.
The DC-545HCEX has proved to be an excellent investment.
In the first three months of use it will have paid for itself through revenues from sales of the new products we are now able to offer." TheDC-545HCEX is claimed to recall up to 80 customer-programmable jobs from memory, tackling applications such as business cards, folded leaflets, CD inlays, paperback covers and greetings cards.
