20% Production Increase As College Goes Digital
Duplo's DP-460H Duprinter has improved printing processes at Loughborough College so that production has increased by an estimated 20 per cent.
What has especially impressed Jane Hemmings, the reprographic technician, who manages the school's print department, is the DP-460Hs high pile infeed that enables her to stack up to 3,000 sheets at any one time, making the machine ideally suited to the school's mid-volume printing requirements said Duplo.
Hemmings said: "The DP-460H has been an excellent investment and has helped the print department save time.
The delivery speed is an important factor but a real asset is proving to be the automatic document feeder option that means I can load a multi-page job and walk away from the machine to concentrate on other tasks safe in the knowledge that when I return, the DP-460H will have completed a job ready for distribution." The DP-460H is not the first Duprinter Neville Lovett School has purchased.

Hemmings continued: "We have an established relationship with Transcribe Thamesgroup (Duplo's local, approved dealer) and own an older Duprinter model, which we still use to support any work undertaken.
We weren't looking to replace this machine but following a routine service visit, the engineer mentioned the new DP-460H and listed its additional features.
We made the decision to purchase one for the school as well as to keep our first machine to run alongside it.
Combined, the two products mean we can now take on additional jobs, which perhaps wouldn't have been possible in the past.
We weren't necessarily looking to expand our print business, just simply refine it but thanks to the new features of the DP-460H, we have actually done both." With 900 children and 130 staff, the school's print department produces a variety of applications such as leaflets, newsletters, worksheets, stationery and brochures.
It also uses the DP-460H to print advertising copy as well as help manage other schools' and small businesses' print.
In addition, the Duprinter is suitable for producing order sheets, invitations, envelopes, exam papers, score cards, menus, tickets, timetables and stationery, for instance, said Duplo.
Once switched on, the machine can print or copy instantly on to a range of stocks from carbonless to card and envelopes at weights from 11lb to 110lb, while achieving a claimed 130 prints per minute.
It is fully network compatible (PC or Mac) with RIP or a Duplo print server, offering computer to press imaging and can print within seconds of start up, producing 1,300 prints in just 10 minutes added the company.
The DP-460H is said to be able to take on single and spot colour jobs from 25 to 10,000 prints at 600dpi.
Automatic plate change is carried out within a claimed 22 seconds and an offset stacker means that separate jobs can be offset stacked for easy identification at the end of the print run.
The machine also incorporates a vacuum infeed system which is said to eliminate paper marking and offers faster re-run for duplex and spot colour work.
Another advantage of the machine is its ability to change ink colour in 20 seconds, even with special colours such as gold and silver.
Hemmings concluded: "We have been very impressed with the machine and with all the customer and service support provided by the approved dealer.
We look forward to continuing to cater for our print business and given productivity levels as they stand perhaps manage any new opportunities which arise.".
