Cromalin investment confirms long relationship
Seven Worldwide installs DuPont Cromalin Digital proofing equipment.
It will be the first time this combination has been seen and Duplo is expecting the demonstrations to be of particular interest to printers producing four-page card brochures, greeting cards and booklet covers.
The heavy duty DCM 45 creaser-perforator was developed from technical co-operation between Multigraf of Switzerland and the UK company Technifold.
It incorporates Technifold's patented rotary creasing system for digital print, which stretches the surface fibres without breaking them, eliminating cracking on the fold, said Duplo.
The rotary system allows exceptionally high running speeds regardless of the number of creases it is required to make and, as a stand-alone machine, the DCM 45 can be fed manually, by a continuous suction feeder, or by a deep-pile feeder.
In the latter mode, it is claimed tobe suitable for multiple creasing applications or as a precision perforator.
The MKF 35 Knife Folder is claimed to handle materials up to 3mm thick, including paper, cardboard, brochures, and pre-folded sheets.
It can operate as a suction fed stand-alone unit, as the last module of a combination section folder or, as shown at Ipex, with the DCM Creaser.
Tony Hills, the UK wholesale manager of Duplo, said: "The big benefit of integrating these modular units is the reduction in handling between one task and another.
Sheets are fed through the creaser, on to the MKF's right-angled roller guide and straight through the knife folder to be folded on the crease.
There is no lifting and moving of stacks from one machine to another.
"The modular nature of these machines means that set-up and harmonisation is quick and simple, and the result is absolute precision and consistency," he added.
