Ipex Sees Duplo Seal Laminating Systems Deal

Day one of Ipex 2006 provided Duplo International with a double triumph as it announced a new alliance with laminator and film manufacturer GMP, before securing its first sale of a Protopic-520 laminator.

The laminator was sold to UK book printer Marston Books.

The GMP agreement will see Duplo selling and servicing GMP's complete range of laminators across the UK, which complements Duplo's range of products and systems, said the company.

Jan Jefferies, Duplo's UK general manager, said: "The GMP deal has already given us our first sale at Ipex.

Our agreement with GMP enables us to offer customers the very best in laminating technology, which is an integral part of the finishing process.

We want to provide our customers with the best products available and will back up our new range with a complete service offering.

The GMP range will be distributed to the UK via Duplo's direct sales force and handles on-demand digital, wide format and commercial applications.

As well as providing products for the offset sector, GMP said ti is dedicated to growing its digital portfolio and designs systems that address challenges such as the difficulty of laminating film to oil and toner on the paper.

S G Ra, GMP's European managing director, said: "The agreement with Duplo provides a significant venture for us as it will present our range of products to a wider audience through Duplo's extensive sales network.
