Essex (UK) press and publishing company, Maypole Press, is experiencing a 50 per cent increase in production having installed a Duplo System 5000 bookletmaking and collating system.

The System 5000 has eliminated bottlenecks at the finishing stage, which created a problem for Maypole before its installation.

Maypole's senior partner, Jim Robinson, explained: "Our levels of efficiency and productivity have soared due to the high speed and consequent reduced downtime achieved by the System 5000.

We had our eye on the system for a long time, as our existing set-up slowed down our operation time considerably.

It simply couldn't keep up with the increased output we were producing on our new five-colour press and we needed a bookletmaker that was going to be a great deal faster without compromising on our quality or accuracy.

We found our solution in the System 5000." The System 5000 incorporates DC-10/60 collating towers, the DBM-500 bookletmaker, a face trimmer and a precision stacker and has been optimised for the digital and offset markets, said Luscher.

It operates at claimed speeds of up to 5,000 booklets and 10,000 collated sets per hour, whilst handling covers at up to 300gsm and a variety of sheet sizes.

Maypole Press was established in 1980.

It specialises in the design and print of business stationery, as well as publishing local full colour glossy, weekly and monthly community magazines.

Maypole offers a complete print service for its customers from design right through to finishing.
