Ryuji Nagase, who joined the company's marketing team three years ago, assumes responsibility for most of the marketing functions and in particular interfacing with Duplo's printer vendor partners, which include Canon, HP Indigo, Kodak Nexpress, Oce and Xerox.
Dominic Quennell transferred to Japan in 2001 after 16 years running international operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Duplo International.
Whilst he is relinquishing his executive role at Duplo Corporation (Japan) to return to the UK, he remains a non-executive director of Duplo International, Duplo's distribution arm in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
During his tenure in Japan, his team overhauled Duplo's booklet-making range, launched a series of in-line and near-line systems, invented an entirely new product segment of slitting, cutting and scoring machines, designed a new concept suction folder and, most recently, showed Duplo's new high-end perfect binder at Ipex.
Tokio Sakamoto, president of Duplo Corporation commented: "I am particularly proud of Dominic's team's ground-breaking work with the UP3i and JDF standards, which have placed Duplo and its partners in a uniquely strong position to tackle the workflow challenges of this digital print era.
Our close partnerships with leading printer vendors will enable Duplo to continue to meet the challenges of the digital era, whilst our strong collator sales show that we are continuing to support customers in the offset market." He concluded: "In the time that Dominic Quennell has been part of the team here in Japan we have seen our graphic arts sales increase by 84 per cent and we have expanded our product range for both offset and digital customers.
We feel confident that we have laid the foundations for a range of systems that will add value to our customers' businesses for the foreseeable future.
We acknowledge Dominic's tremendous contribution and wish him all the best for the future.".
