Champion
Duncan Print Group's commitment to environmental best practice has earned the Hertfordshire business international recognition.
ICS Registrars, a UK Advisory Service accredited assessment body has signed off the Welwyn Garden City group's application for the ISO 14001 environmental management standard, highlighting the printer's green credentials The award follows the Duncan Print Group achieving both the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) accreditation and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Council (PEFC) accreditation, ensuring products used in production are sourced from sustainable and certified forests where biodiversity is encouraged

The ISO 14001 was first published as an international standard in 1996, outlining the requirements for an environmental management system.
It applies to the areas of a business where an organisation has control and where it can be expected to have an influence.
Keith Davidson, Duncan Print Group sales director said the accreditation reflected the businesses' long standing commitment to ensuring a sustainable future through best environmental business practice.
"The Duncan Print Group is committed to the care of the environment, prevention of pollution, and efficient use of natural resources," Davidson commented.
"We are obviously delighted to be able to now offer our customers proof that we are actively reducing our environmental impact across all areas of our business".
Producing both commercial print and packaging, the Duncan Print Group has introduced a number of initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint of the business and meet the strict guidelines necessary for accreditation.
The group's environmental programme has included working with suppliers to ensure maximum use of sustainable resources in production; ongoing work on projects with The Carbon Trust and Envirowise to reduce energy consumption and waste; and introducing recycling across the business to significantly cut landfill.
The Duncan Print team is also working to minimise the use of chemicals and continues to explore more efficient methods of production.
"A businesses' environmental impact is increasingly important to society as a whole and these independent awards are evidence of our commitment to act responsibly," Davidson concluded.
