Digital Shop Wins New Business With New Printers

In a move to keep pace with changing technology and significantly increase production capability, Paris based wide format digital print shop Dodeka has installed three Encad's Novajet 1000i printers.

In a move to keep pace with changing technology and significantly increase production capability, Paris based wide format digital print shop Dodeka has installed three of Encad's Novajet 1000i wide format printers.

"The market has been waiting a long time for the type of print quality that is achievable with this machine," said Dodeka owner and managing director Claude Karageudjian.

"I would go as far as to say that it is easily the best wide-format inkjet printer available on the market at the moment from a speed, reliability and quality standpoint.

The incredible production speed attainable with our new hardware allows us to respond quicker and easier to the needs of our customers.

In fact, our production capability has more than doubled over the last two years," he added.

Before taking charge of the Novajet trio, Dodeka installed just one unit for a trial period and still managed to produce more than 2,000 square metres of output a month.

The Encad hardware has also made it easier for Dodeka to respond to the needs of its other existing customers, such as Renault, Total and shoemaking giant, BATA.

"From a quality aspect, the highest image definition obtainable on the Novajet 1000i easily competes with that of premium substrate, silver photo paper.

This level of quality more than surpasses our customers' requirements, so their expectations are often exceeded when they see the result," said Karageudjian.

That is largely due to the new, Quantum Ink that Encad has introduced for the printer.

By using the new ink, Dodeka is able to achieve superior colour gamut and density on its printed output, claimed Encad.

What's more, due to the transparent ink bottles, the user is able to see when levels are running low and when every last drop of ink in the bottle has been consumed.

Since the installation, the Novajet 1000i machines have been responsible for opening up new business for Dodeka with famous French luxury watchmaker-jeweller, Cartier.

"It's without question that winning the large format, point-of-sale graphics work for Cartier, is attributable to the much-increased image quality we can offer with the Novajet 1000i," commented Karageudjian.

He added that he was also impressed at the reliability of the Novajet 1000i printers, which operate throughout the day and night with minimal supervision.

"Since their installation, I would estimate that our maintenance costs are 10 per cent of what they were.

That is perhaps due to the reliability of the ink-head carriages on the new machines, which work superbly and without the need for attention," he said.

Together with three existing Encad wide format machines, including the 600dpi Novajet 850, Dodeka boasts an extensive range of other hardware, including flatbed roll-to-roll printers like the Durhst Rho 160, as well as cutters and laminators for finishing.

They are all housed at its 1,100 square metre premises in the Clichy area of the capital.
