Kodak's Graphic Communications Group (GCG) has launched the Kodak 1200i wide-format printing system, an evolution of the Novajet 1000i.

Exhibited at FESPA 2005 in Munich, and Expografica in Rome, the 1200i system comprises the Kodak 1200i wide-format printer, Kodak Quantum inks, Kodak's wide-format inkjet media and an optimised RIP developed for the 1200i.

Encad believes that the 1200i system's dual component evaporation drying system improves drying efficiency, allowing for rapid dry times for instant take up and faster print-to-lamination time.

The patented 'intelligent mask technology' optimises colour gamut, density and vibrancy without compromising speed.

Kodak Quantum Inks, developed with Kodak's experience of over a century of colour imaging science, deliver an expanded colour gamut, enhanced durability and longevity for both indoor and outdoor applications at low cost.

The Kodak Edition, Production Server Select is an optional customised RIP with Kodak Media profiles that are claimed to offer ease of use, flexibility and output quality for new and established wide-format users.

With a recommended price of 14,768 Euros for the 60" model and 10,436 Euros for the 42" model, the 1200i wide format printer will be available in late June.
