Edale's shaftless Sigma press has now secured seven sales in the UK, Europe, USA and the Middle East.

Edale's shaftless Sigma press has now secured seven sales in the UK, Europe, USA and the Middle East At the same time Edale has been putting to the test the latest technology in water-cooled UV dryers, enabling the printing of materials down to a thickness of 12 microns, by running a shrink sleeve application on 50 micron shrink PVC

This relatively new sector of packaging is set to grow in the flexo industry owing to numerous functional and marketing related advantages over the more traditional forms of package printing previously employed believes Edale.

The servo driven Sigma press is attracting the attention of companies both seeking to bring their packaging printing in-house and existing wide web printers who now realise the benefits of employing narrow web presses for short runs with many in-line functions such as lamination, slitting and hot and cold foiling, said the company.

Bernhard Grob, joint managing director of Edale summed up the logic behind that sort of decision: "It quite simply rationalises, automises and increases production.".
