Edale has reported that it is fast gaining a strong international presence with a steady stream orders averaging one per month for its modular Beta range of flexo presses with its latest being a 330mm wide model.

The seven-colour Beta 330 installed in Amman (Jordan) is used for a wide range of reel-to-reel packaging and self-adhesive label applications - both being fast growing markets, according to the Hampshire (UK) press manufacturer.

Edale said that instead of buying labels and packaging from abroad, the trend is quite clearly towards local manufacturing to match the demand in just-in-time (JIT) production and supply and to respond to short run, quick turn-around orders.

That combined with a growth in the export of packaging and labels means that Jordan is becoming a viable market for flexographic presses.

In combination with screen and digital printing and hot or cold foiling, the Beta continues to gain market share in the high end of cosmetic label and packaging printing.

Edale's Bernhard Grob has noted that over the last 18 months, Edale has seen more orders for flexo presses going into Middle East, compared to the last three years.

Included in that is the Alpha installation in Jordan, making it the 24th country to receive an Alpha press, of which 80 have been sold since its launch in spring 2001.

With proliferating sales Edale said it is seeking to expand its premises in order to accommodate the required production demands and that it would be making announcements later in the year about new factory space.
