Edale, the UK narrow web flexographic printing press manufacturer and its South African agent, Printing Products has completed their second installation, this time for Silverline Print in Johannesburg.

Silverline Print specialises in the design and print of self-adhesive labels, tags and non-adhesive labels to various industries, such as FMCG, dairies, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, fruit, chemical and automotive.

Those industries require labels on demand from a reliable supplier, without serious cost implications to their customers, said Edale.

Tom Murphy, the sales director of Silverline Print, said: "We already had other well known presses, which produced good quality labels but we soon got to realise that, in an increasingly competitive market, we needed an extra press.

We believed we needed one that was suitable for producing high quality labels, consistently allowing us to penetrate niche markets more extensively." He continued: "After researching the presses that might accommodate our needs, the decision fell in favour of the Edale five-colour Alpha UV flexopress.

The press offers us the flexibility of quick tool-less change-over, with minimum waste.

The ease of operation meant that an operator could literally learn to set up and print within one day.

From the very first impression, it was quite clear that we were able to match our colour proof.

Our design studio was visibly impressed with our quality, colour consistency, registration and the various lines we could hold.

We ran the machine at maximum speed, without any registration movement.

The camera inspection system eases the task of the machine minder allowing him to monitor the quality at all stages." He said the company was delighted with the machine and very impressed with the local agent, Printing Products.
