Ricardas Company, a well established sheet offset printer from Klaipeda, was one of the first companies to diversify in to flexo printing for self adhesive labels several years ago.

Since then, the flexo business has rapidly developed with higher profit margins than offset, and due to that the next investment for the company was only a question of time.

Ricardas Petkevicius, Ricardas's owner, said: "With the enormous improvements in flexo, we just needed to find the next level of flexo press to move up a league or two.

Other important points in our decision were print quality, quick set-up and job change-over for short run work.

Operator friendliness, excellent inter-colour drying, reliability for three-shift production and waste reduction were also key factors in the decision." Petkevicius opted for the compact Edale Alpha flexo press over the more common modular presses available on the market.

His decision makes him believe his company will be more competitive because of it.

With over 100 Alpha presses installed in over 30 countries since its launch in 2001, the Alpha has won awards world-wide, said Edale.

The present day market demand for the Alpha comes mainly from the self-adhesive label sector, with some packaging applications for local and international customers.
