Edale showcased its new Lambda concept at an open house event with the press configured as an off-line system for RFID inlay affixing The Lambda incorporated the Tamarack P500 RFID unit

Over 50 customers from the UK and overseas were welcomed to Edale's Romsey (UK) headquarters to see for themselves the Lambda's capabilities.

Although the Lambda on show was configured for RFID inlay insertion, Jeremy Westcott, Edale's Lambda sales engineer, pointed out the versatility and scope of the press.

He said: "The Lambda is an infinitely flexible system.

Typical off-line systems include coating, booklet insertion, multi-web application and two RFID insertion configurations but they are by no means exclusive nor inadaptable.

The press can be configured to any conceivable web path and easily reconfigured or upgraded at a later date." Westcott continued: "It's difficult to fully comprehend the concept of the Lambda without seeing it in action.

Those attending were visibly impressed by the plug and play technology that allows specification of any conceivable configuration and the open architecture design, which enables adjustment, reconfiguration and upgrade.

This flexibility and re-configurability makes the Lambda unique in its field and at a fraction of the cost compared with other RFID application machines." Multi-lane options, across the web, are available which is crucial once volume production increases, said Edale.

The Lambda concept is claimed to minimise the risk that such a machine will ever become redundant because of the flexible platform design enabling the re-configuration at any stage.

Westcott explained: "The open house has been such a success that we have decided to extend in to the first few months of 2007 with dedicated company presentations and customer job demonstrations." With installations already completed, Edale said that it is looking set to forge new ground with the fourth machine in its range.
