London prepress company Production Response is providing clients with a more efficient digital proofing service, following the installation of EFI's proofing software incorporating Best technology.

London prepress company Production Response is providing clients with a more efficient digital proofing service, following the installation of EFI's proofing software incorporating Best technology.

The company has installed EFI's Remoteproof and is one of the first UK users to install the latest generation of EFI's Colorproof version 5.0.

Production Response is part of the Fusion Group, the UK's largest pre-media group providing a comprehensive range of services and solutions to advertising agencies, corporate clients and other marketing communication companies.

Richard Purton, technical services manager of Production Response, was looking to upgrade the company's existing digital proofing equipment to improve job turnaround times and increase job efficiency.

He approached City and West End Solutions, EFI's local distributor for its proofing solutions.

Purton explained: "I wanted a contract proofing solution that would produce cost-effective, high quality digital colour proofs.

City and West End Solutions suggested EFI's Colorproof version 5.0 and EFI's Remoteproof software, with an Epson wide-format printer, complete with RIP, print engine, media and service agreement.

I decided to upgrade the existing kit immediately as it met our needs perfectly." The new system installed at Production Response comprises four Epson 10600 wide-format printers, driven by EFI's Colorproof version 5.0 software, which produces affordable yet quality colour-accurate, continuous tone proofs.

In addition, Production Response has installed EFI's Remoteproof, which allows users to accurately proof files that have been transferred from one location to another.

The company produces proofs for a number of large customers including Universal Music, for their CD, DVD, video and album covers within the UK and international divisions.

It also produces magazine proofs for a variety of titles including OK, New, Star, Dazed and Confused and the entire range of Express Newspapers magazines.

As a result of the new EFI's Colorproof solution, proofs can be produced much quicker than before, increasing job turnaround and allowing us to provide a more efficient service.

A remote proofing is now also offered.

"We now have the facility to download reference profiles to EFI's Colorproof via the web or CD, enabling us to run out a proof that matches the press to achieve better results." As well as improving colour management and the quality of proofs, EFI's Colorproof version 5.0 has a number of added features, including the integration of Adobe Postscript 3, which now has an overprinting function," said Purton.

This is useful for Production Response since they use output devices made by a range of manufacturers.
