Increased Workflow Options For Digital Colour
Opening up more workflow options to customers in commercial print, quick print and in-plant colour printing, Xerox Corporation and EFI have announced two new EFI Fiery colour servers.
The Fiery Q4500 is available for colour production class engines and digital presses.
Also included in the Drupa server line-up will be the Fiery QX9000 server, the fastest Fiery in the world, which is specifically designed to drive the new Kodak Versamark 2,000 page-per-minute, full color variable data ink jet printer.
New features to Fiery System 5.5 include the Command Workstation for the management and manipulation of jobs, Colorwise flexible controls for colour output and Fiery Scan for feature-rich scans that can be emailed, faxed, FTP'd or stored on a local hard drive.

EFI will showcase its web-enabled collaboration tools, management information systems, Fiery servers and superwide digital inkjet printers at Ipex 2006.
Danka Sent On EFI's SendMe
Danka, a customer and channel partner of EFI, has installed an EFI Sendme unit at its Netherlands head office.
The new Fiery servers are also EFI Balance compatible, boosting productivity in commercial and production environments.
EFI's variable data printing (VDP) capabilities are available for a complete VDP production workflow.
EFI claims to offer the most extensive range of VDP languages, such as Fiery Freeform and industry standard PPML, as well as a host of proprietary languages.
"These powerful servers deliver impressive performance and make them the solution of choice for mission critical, production print environments," said Guy Gecht, chief executive officer of EFI.
"The Fiery server sets new industry standards with unmatched output, extensive variable data support, powerful production workflow management features and the familiar Command Workstation interface," he added.
Additional Fiery System 5.5 software features for the Fiery S300, S500 and Q4500 include Impose (formally Docbuilder Pro), a PDF-based imposition tool to enable operators to edit and assemble entire documents before RIPping the files and Graphics Arts Package, a suite of colour management tools.
EFI's Color Profiler is included.
It is a colour measurement tool that enables the creation of ICC profiles with CMYK digital printers.
Fiery Webtools provides control for remote workflow management, whilst Fiery Driver 2.0 is a flexible way to submit and monitor print jobs from a single, intuitive interface.
The company will also show its Fiery networking technology for seamless connectivity to the most popular network protocols, whilst the Data Center Package for host printing IPDS in IBM Mainframe and AS/400 environments is an intuitive user interface in high volume printing environments.
EFI has two stands in Hall 4 at Drupa - B34 and B40.
