EFI has launched a new Fiery front end system, the Oce 1000C, to drive Oce's new CPS900 colour print engine.

EFI has launched a new Fiery front end system, the Oce? 1000C, to drive Oce's new CPS900 colour print engine Based on EFI's Fiery Q4500 platform, the production class server features a specialised suite of precision colour management tools, seamless networking, industry-leading variable data support, and automation of many workflow processes to maximise productivity and efficiency

The performance and colour imaging quality of the Oce 1000C server is enhanced with the Fiery System software.

The range of tools includes the Command Workstation for the management and manipulation of jobs and EFI's Colorwise colour management technology, for control and flexibility to define colour settings using ICC and ICM profiles.

There is also a suite of specialised tools designed to streamline workflow and increase productivity, whilst ensuring consistently accurate colour and print quality on the CPS900, said the company.

EFI's variable data printing (VDP) capabilities are also available for a complete VDP production workflow.

The Oce? 1000C processes variable data print jobs at full engine speeds using dual Xeon Pentium 4 CPUs running at 2.8 GHz.

An extensive range of VDP languages are available, such as Fiery Freeform, PPML, and a host of proprietary languages.

Productivity-enhancing workflow tools, such as imposition functionality for VDP jobs, resource management, and subset and record-level finishing, maximise throughput and streamline colour VDP production.

EFI's system design would allow Oce customers to choose any authoring tool and create static and variable elements, claimed the company.

"This delivers a new level of performance for even the most complex print jobs.

With an architecture built to handle high-speed production printing and workflow automation tools to eliminate bottlenecks, the Oce 1000C offers significant productivity and efficiency improvements to Oce customers," said Frank Mallozzi, vice president of worldwide sales at EFI.

The EFI colour management tools could also build on Oce's seven-colour copy press imaging technology to provide new levels of colour output.
