EFI and Swiss-based Digital Information Ltd have announced a cost effective, efficient ink key presetting application for use with EFI Best Proofing systems.

EFI and Swiss-based Digital Information Ltd have announced a cost effective, efficient ink key presetting application for use with EFI Best Proofing systems.

The new Inkzone Option makes use of Digital Information's Ink Zone Box, which is capable of digitally presetting the ink zones of most sheet-fed printing presses.

It is said to enable faster production runs, shorter set-up times, reduces waste as well as paper and ink consumption and yields significantly lower production costs, claimed the companies.

This results in greater flexibility, enhanced quality and 100% reproduction, with repeat orders, they believe.

It is now available for EFI proof and EFI Screenproof.

Inkzone V1.0 will be available with Version 5.X oColourf EFI Colourproof M, XL and XXL, EFI Colourproof Laser, EFI Screenproof and EFI Screenproof 4UP.

The new product is available now in Europe and will be on display on the Digital Information Stand in hall 9 at Drupa 2004, stand D75.

By combining its proofing technology with Digital Information's zonal ink-setting system, EFI has extended the functionality of its TIFF output so that it can be used in conjunction with Inkzone.

The EFI TIFF output allows the user to output PS and PDF files as TIFF files which can be processed by Digital Information's Ink Zone.

Paul Cripps, managing director, EMEA, is confident of the appeal of the new product.

"Inkzone offers a highly attractive price performance ratio, combining EFI's well respected colour management expertise with Digital Information's Inkzone all in one package.

EFI proofing solutions with Best technology and Digital Information's Inkzone product are both established brands within their separate markets and combining the two technologies into one product should prove very beneficial to the end user," he said.
