EFI has been granted a licence by FOGRA, the leading developer of printing technology, to integrate its Ugra and Fogra Media Wedge CMYK version 2.0 control strip and all future versions into EFI Rips

EFI has been granted a license by FOGRA, the leading developer of printing technology, to integrate its Ugra and Fogra Media Wedge CMYK version 2.0 control strip and all future versions into EFI Rips and proofing products.

The Fogra integration will offer customers a standard for verifying colour accuracy throughout the printing process thus ensuring superior quality output, said EFI.

The Ugra and Fogra Media Wedge CMYK 2.0 is a control strip used to ensure that print proofs match a reference profile within a prescribed tolerance.

It has become the leading control strip standard in Germany as well as many other countries, said EFI.

The agreement, which provides EFI non-exclusive worldwide distribution rights, was signed at Drupa 2004.

"We are delighted to be able to offer our customers the Ugra and Fogra control strip as an integrated feature of EFI products, to ensure precision colour results," said Thorstern Breiding, vice president and general manager of EFI's proofing technology.

"We plan to include the Media Wedge as an integrated component of our next generation proofing with BestTM technology that will be launching in the third quarter of 2004," added Breiding.

Ulrich Schmitt, head of the department of quality management at FOGRA commented: "We are always keen to partner with key industry players and dynamic, innovative companies in the printing industry.

This agreement with EFI will ensure both companies deliver quality solutions that enable customers to achieve high quality, colour output.".
