Colour Proofer Scores Highly At Product Roundup
EFI's Colorproof XF achieved winning results at the IPA Color Proofing Roundup, an industry benchmark for proofing devices.
With tremendous technical advancements across all areas of the product from the client server architecture to greater functionality options, combined with the new, intuitive user interface that gives a completely new look and feel to the product, It is one of the most innovative and cutting edge products to hit the digital colour proofing market today," said Thorsten Breiding, vice president and general manager of EFI Proofing Solutions.
Colorproof XF consists of several different components that can be joined together in different combinations to create basic or extended configurations.
That offers complete flexibility to the end-user, allowing the customer to personalise each application to suit individual proofing requirements and add more functionality as needs expand said EFI.
"The value of the new EFI Colorproof XF is in the flexibility that it offers the customer," added Breiding.
"The variety of component and output options means that each individual client can find a tailored solution that fits their exact proofing requirements." It is available for Windows and Macintosh workstations, offering a complete platform-independent and fully customisable solution.
Colorproof XF is capable of creating and reading the EFI Remoteproof JDF Specification, enabling the verification of a proof in multiple sites.
At the heart of the new software sits the Colorproof XF Server, which in a basic configuration, comes with the client option and a printer option, driving inkjet and laser printers up to A2 format.
In addition to those basic modules, the customer can choose from a variety of different product and output options that can be added on as required, claimed EFI.
Product options include the Color Manager Option for creating paper and reference profiles, the Color Verifier Option for validating color accuracy against industry measuring standards and the Dot Creator Option enabling rasterisation of contone data for output on DOD inkjet printers.
The EFI Onebit Option is claimed to enable the creation of ICC-based colour-accurate contract screen proofs on DOD inkjet printers, whilst the Spot Colour Option enables the processing and colour-accurate printing of any kind of supported file formats that contain spot colours.
Additional output options can be purchased for printer sizes M, XL and XXL, in addition to a file export option.
Colorproof XF is also said to offer a multi-output functionality, allowing the user to print to more than one printer at the same time.
It will be available through certified EFI dealers and distributors in the third quarter of 2004.
The new platform will support a wider variety of printers, including the Epson Stylus Pro 4000, the HP Designjet 30 and 130, and the Canon Imageprograf W6200.
It will run on Windows 2000, 2003 and XP.
A Macintosh version of EFI Colorproof XF Server, running on Mac OS X Server, is scheduled for later this year.
