SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) is a non-profit organisation that recommends specifications for the use of all those involved in the production of publications, including advertisers, publishers, printers, advertising agencies and pre-press service suppliers.
EFI's proofing products were tested for their ability to control colour inkjet output and produce proofs as close as possible to the appearance of a SWOP certified press proof.
Colorproof XF (which now incorporates EFI's Screenproof software), Designer Edition and Photo Edition each simulated a SWOP press proof in conjunction with the Canon W8200, Epson 4000 and HP 30n and 130n large format devices.
"Achieving the highest quality output is of paramount importance to printers and this SWOP certification underscores that our solutions consistently deliver to those exacting standards.
In addition to ensuring predictability, our newest Colorproof XF platform removes complexity from the proofing process by joining functionality with a cohesive workflow.
We are thrilled to deliver these industry leading, SWOP-certified solutions and allow customers to create quality, colour-accurate proofs easily and cost-effectively," said Ghilad Dziesietnik, the vice president of professional print workflow and technology at EFI.
The company added that the products met precision colour targets.
Certification was achieved with EFI proofing software on the Canon W8200 using Canon commercial proofing media, on the Epson Stylus Pro 4000 using EFI gravure proof paper and on the HP 130n with EFI's Remoteproof paper and HP proofing semi-gloss paper.
Each combination was proven to create a powerful and flexible digital proofing system for delivering superior quality output at an economical price.
