EFI has appointed Bob Spiers as european sales director for commercial print systems.

Spiers has joined EFI from his previous position as managing director of Optichrome Computer Systems.

His key responsibilities at EFI will be to direct sales of the company's print management information systems (MIS) products across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Commenting on his new role, Spiers said: "The range of products offered by EFI in the print MIS sector is far more comprehensive than any other supplier and it has by far the largest customer.

When you add the MIS products to the rapidly growing range of integrated printing products offered by EFI, you have a supplier with a very competitive offering for the industry." Spiers' career began in the IT sector and he moved in to printing seven years ago, which EFI said has provided him with a thorough appreciation and understanding of the benefits of print MIS software.

Spiers said his objectives include substantially increasing market share in the UK and Ireland, strengthening existing accounts and making EFI the automatic choice for all printers across Europe.

One of his key considerations in joining EFI was providing customers with an MIS partner that they can rely on that truly understands their requirements for functionality and reliability.
