EFI and Ricoh Corporation have announced that Ricoh will integrate EFI's Sendme document capture and distribution with its line of multifunctional Aficio systems.

EFI and Ricoh Corporation have announced that Ricoh will integrate EFI's Sendme document capture and distribution with its line of multifunctional Aficio systems.

Ricoh offers Sendme to bring superior productivity and greater return on equipment investment.

Sendme users scan pages in full colour, greyscale or mono, and preview the digital files as thumbnails or full-page images in PDF, TIFF or JPEG format using a large, intuitive touch-screen interface.

Documents are immediately available via e-mail, FTP, on-line repository or through a fax server.

Sendme's delivery capabilities offer cost savings compared to the traditional delivery methods, overnight service, faxing, and postal mail, said EFI.

Sendme is claimed to work with Ricoh's Globalscan network scanning technology and multifunctional Aficio systems to enable efficient electronic document distribution across the enterprise.

Globalscan software attaches any scanned document to an email and routes it to individual email addresses or groups in a user's address book.

In conjunction with Globalscan, Sendme will integrate in to any Ricoh multifunctional Aficio document management system and allow user interface customisation with API scripting and an easy-to-use administrator's application, added EFI.

The Sendme-Ricoh system is said to be designed to save steps and deliver documents electronically.

Globalscan is claimed to enable organisations deploying many of the top tier enterprise document management (EDM) platforms to turn paper-based documents to electronic information.

Globalscan integrates Sendee-enabled Ricoh MFPs and EDM systems and enables customers to readily preview, capture and manage paper-based information.

With Globalscan, MFPs become distributed scanning stations that store documents to the EDM platform.

All Globalscan plug-ins are dynamic, meaning any changes to the EDM system, profiles, permissions, or folders are realised in real-time at the MFP and no additional administration required, claimed EFI.

Sendme also comes with bundled connectors for workflows that include Equitrac Professional, Omtool Accuroute and Captaris Rightfax.

"This new integration expands the already prodigious EFI-Ricoh relationship, and we are pleased to now provide our customers with Sendme and the means to boost office productivity and profitability.

Sendme provides advanced technology in an easy-to-use, kiosk-style interface that will save our customers time and money whilst streamlining document distribution and management," said Hede Nonaka, vice president of marketing for Ricoh Corporation.

Frank Mallozzi, vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at EFI, added: "Ricoh and EFI are both companies that define success by how greatly we contribute to our customers' success.

Sendme is designed to provide efficiencies that greatly enhance the bottom line for high-volume and mid-volume customers.

Those customers join the more than 12 million users worldwide benefiting from EFI technology." Facilitating the advancement of the companies' combined system is EFI's participation in the Ricoh developer programme as a premier plus member.

Designed to meet the needs of application developers, premier plus membership provides EFI with the highest level of essential tools, support, and training to readily integrate Sendme and Ricoh products, said EFI.
