EFI has launched its Fiery EXP8000 for Xerox's Docucolor 7000 digital press.

The new press, coupled with the EXP8000, is designed for mission-critical, high-end production printing environments.

Fiery servers are claimed to enable the range of high-value production applications offered by Xerox presses built for commercial print, print for pay, franchise printers, service bureaux, data centres and in-plant and CRD operations.

Those applications include print-on-demand, web-to-print, book publishing and personalised marketing.

The Fiery EXP8000 for the claimed 70 pages per minute (ppm) Docucolor 7000 joins the family of Fiery servers specifically designed for Xerox digital colour presses, including servers for the iGen3, the 80ppm Docolor c8000 and the 60ppm Docucolor 6060.

The EXP8000, originally announced with the Docucolor 8000, is based on Fiery technology for high-end production.

The server is claimed to elevate the standard in speed and precision and includes unique features that give customers a sustained competitive advantage in a dynamic market.

All are said to be well-integrated within a single, user-friendly interface, the Command Workstation, to ensure a streamlined, linear workflow with minimal keystrokes.

EXP8000 is designed to drive Xerox high end digital copiers and printers at claimed speeds as high as 100 ppm in demanding colour production environments.

The Fiery server is also said to process two jobs at once, RIPping a new file, whilst simultaneously printing another file.

Additionally, the EXP8000 includes EFI's Variable Data Printing (VDP) software, to provide what is said to be the widest range of VDP languages and industry standard PPML.

Users have the freedom to select the VDP language and application they prefer, said EFI.
