EFI Image Controller Boosts Konica Minolta Bizhub

EFI has announced the availability of the IC-402 Image Controller, embedded Fiery technology for the new Bizhub C351, a claimed 35 pages-per-minute (ppm) colour printer, scanner, copier and fax (MFP).

The EFI IC-402 equips 'power' PDF and Microsoft Office (particularly Powerpoint) users with productivity features to improve efficiency whilst its colour capabilities make the IC-402 suitable for graphics-intensive, creative environments, claimed EFI.

The Bizhub C351 is the most recent addition to the Konica Minolta line of Fiery-driven MFPs, which is also currently available to optimise the Bizhub C450.

IC-402 Fiery system technology enables the Bizhub systems to deliver high image quality, authentic Postscript, reliability and enhanced security, at maximum speed, even for the most complex colour documents, said the company.

The IC-402 Fiery system software for the Bizhub C351 includes new Fiery processing software that is said to accelerate the processing of documents and ensures the fastest printing possible on Postscript, PDF, MS Office (particularly Powerpoint) and other large, colour image files.

Fiery technology is claimed to virtually eliminate waiting time at the printer - even when printing at very high resolutions and on a range of media.

In addition to PCL (Printer Command Language), the embedded Fiery controller includes an EFI/Adobe co-developed Postscript interpreter that processes (RIPs) the print job.

Fiery office accelerator is said to enable the printing of Adobe Postscript 3 and native PDF files with a level of accuracy and colour rendering that emulators cannot achieve, claimed EFI.

To secure information, Fiery system software provides a secure erase option to remove all traces of job data from the Fiery hard disk drive and IP filtering to control access to the printing device, as well as port blocking to control access to the Fiery through remote management.

Fiery Colorwise is said to offer built-in 'intelligence' for producing consistently precise hues from all applications, platforms and file formats.

Functions includes auto trapping for optimised colour when layering graphics and standard Spot-On colour matching for accuracy, supporting corporate-branded colours.

The Fiery Command Workstation, also available for customers using the Macintosh operating system, provides centralised print job management with a variety of productivity-enhancing tools.

Command Workstation is said to have the flexibility to be run on multiple client stations, as well as locally when equipped with the optional Fiery Advanced Controller Interface kit.
