EFI has also announced its next-generation of environmentally-friendly solvent inks made with totally renewable resources.
EFI said it has been working to reformulate its products for many years before the European Parliament published its guidelines for lead, mercury, cadmium and other potentially hazardous substances.
The company's work, dating back to 2002, has enabled it to implement changes globally in advance of RoHS compliance being compulsory for products shipped solely to Europe.

EFI Looks To Make Drupa Connections
EFI, the digital imaging and print management systems specialist will showcase the productivity and revenue generating benefits of its connected workflow at Drupa 2004.
Rather than retrofitting existing systems, EFI decided to develop and launch completely new RoHS-compliant, environmentally sound Fiery hardware platforms.
They include the high-end Fiery Q5500 to mid-range Fiery S450/S650, as well as the lower-range Fiery X3TY2 and X3IM.
"EFI constantly looks for ways to improve our product manufacturing and design, and our facilities, to minimise environmental impact, whilst remaining cost-competitive," said Joseph Cutts, chief operating officer of EFI.
He added: "We're at the forefront of RoHS compliance and have revolutionised the industry by creating inks with totally renewable resources because these initiatives will greatly benefit the environment, whilst our customers derive benefits that contribute to their bottom lines." Those developments come after EFI launched Vutek Biovu, which is claimed to be the first solvent-based ink made from a renewable resource - corn - and the only ink recognised by the USA EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).
Biovu is said to provide all the benefits of traditional solvent inks without the compromises inherent in eco-solvent and aqueous inks.
Other benefits to the environment and to EFI customers are claimed to include lower disposal costs since there are no hazardous materials and reduced odour on final printed materials, whilst it is less bothersome than solvent to employees.
Because there are no harmful VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations are satisfied.
Biovu inks are for use on Vutekk Ultravu II 3360 solvent printers, and EFI plans to expand Biovu inks to its other Vutek solvent models later in the year.
