EFI has introduced enhancements to Bestcolor-driven Designer Edition for proofing and producing inkjet prints.
Designed for graphic arts professionals and photographers, EFI Designer Edition 5.1 is claimed to include new features that increase efficiency by enabling the printing of accurate proofs and vivid, full-colour images.
Designer Edition 5.1 is said to also offer improved integration with customers' existing applications and working environments.
Thanks to its capabilities as one of the foremost proofing systems on the market, creative users and EFI added that photo features will provide photographers with all the functions they require to produce vivid, brilliant photos.
Supporting industry standards, from ICC to PDF/X, JDF, ISO, and SWOP, Designer Edition 5.1 integrates with other illustration, photographic and layout applications to offer increased impetus to EFI's digital proofing systems, said the company.
The company believes that the system's improved user interface provides full control over digital proofing and printing needs, whilst increasing efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Other new features include version 2.1 of the Ugra/FOGRA media wedges, including support of Eyeoneisis and DTP70; multicolour profile support, support of seven-colour ICC source, simulation and paper profiles and full support of new multicolour printers.
In addition the system integrates with the latest Adobe CPSI 3017, has full support up to PDF v1.7 and provides accelerated processing of PDF- and PS-based files, as well as including an on-line profile updater to update to the most recent ICC paper profiles.
EFI added that Designer Edition 5.1 also support the L*a*b* correction profile and provides Grayscale conversion to five different gray shades, from warm to cold.
Designer Edition 5.1 also supports the latest printers from HP (Photosmart PRO B9180, HP Z2100 Photo Printer) and Canon (iPF 500/600/700/5000/9000).
With Designer Edition 5.1's multicolour profile support, EFI said that customers benefit from the colour gamuts of those printers and are able optimise their systems for colour printing, as well as for proofing.
Also available in an XXL version, EFI Designer Edition can be deployed in the wide format printing area, added the company.
Stefan Spiegel, general manager of graphic arts solutions at EFI, commented: "Like all EFI products, Designer Edition 5.1 is designed to provide superior value to our customers.
This is underscored by the advanced developments we have applied to Designer Edition, which will provide graphic arts users and photographers with the most innovative tools available in order to excel.
Designer Edition 5.1 is a feature-rich, yet cost-effective system that brings increased quality and efficiency to users.".
