EFI has appointed Chet Pribonic to the post of senior vice president and general manager for the company's Vutek superwide format product line.

EFI's Vutek operations in Meredith, New Hampshire (USA) provide digital printers and inks for the fast growing superwide segment of the professional print market.

Pribonic will lead a team of engineering, manufacturing, marketing, sales and services people and will have profit and loss responsibility for EFI's wide format printing business.

Prior to joining EFI, Pribonic held senior executive positions at Symbol Technologies, DuPont and Compaq, amongst others, where his responsibilities encompassed product development, business strategy and planning, product planning and marketing, supply planning and allocation, product quality and customer support.

Fred Rosenzweig, president of EFI, said: "We are pleased to have an executive of Chet Pribonic's calibre running our Vutek operation.

With his broad experience in the high-tech industry, he will bring to bear innovative best practices from outside the industry that will help us continue to enhance our products, ensure customer satisfaction and gain share in this high-growth market segment." Pribonic commented: "I see the superwide format market as poised for significant growth.

And EFI is uniquely positioned to facilitate that growth with the hardware, software and ink systems our customers will require to profitably benefit from emerging market opportunities.

As we and our customers continue to grow, new strategies for product development, manufacturing and customer support will be required to meet changing market demands and capitalise on opportunities presented by rapid market growth.

I welcome the challenge and look forward to leading this exciting transformation for EFI and its customers." Key to that success, according to Pribonic, will be the introduction of increased automation in to the superwide format manufacturing process for printers in traditional and non-traditional markets, and building on EFI's market leadership with Print MIS, web-to-print and RIP systems in the corporate and commercial print worlds.
