Production Response Digital Proofs Response
London prepress company Production Response is providing clients with a more efficient digital proofing service, following the installation of EFI's proofing software incorporating Best technology.
Kevin Boyle, managing director at RPS, said: "Winning this account is directly attributable to the superior quality achieved from our Vutek printer and the speed at which we can turn the job around.
We are contracted to produce various-sized in-store graphic panels on to different materials including Foamex and display board, which for the QS2000 is easy work as it can handle virtually any substrate." Integrated in to the company's print arm last October, the Vutek QS2000 is claimed to print vibrant graphics on to rigid and flexible substrates and it combines high definition printing with claimed production speeds of up to 70 square metres per hour.
For RPS, that provides a differentiator for its services, added EFI.

Boyle explained: "A great deal of our work is in the POS market, which we traditionally serve via specialist flatbed litho presses.
Naturally we were aware of the benefits of digital technology and kept a close eye on Vutek as it was the first to develop high definition printing." According to EFI, having looked at the performance of the Vutek QS2000 at a trade exhibition, Boyle's mind was made up.
"We were astounded at the print quality achieved on the QS2000.
With much of our work still produced using litho technology, it was imperative that any addition to our print arm would closely match this quality and speed.
The Vutek QS2000 was the only system that could rise to this challenge.
The fact that the QS2000 can print white is an added bonus, as we print certain work on to clear or mirrored substrates," continued Boyle.
For RPS, the addition of the Vutek QS2000 provides added impetus to its versatility and, according to Boyle, will open up new doors in certain market segments previously unreachable for the company.
He added: "We fully expect to be able to quickly gain a foothold in the exhibition graphics sector, as well as the outdoor advertising market.
This was not an area that we could serve before as we didn't have the printing capability." RPS is also using EFI's Fiery XF RIP to great effect, said the company.
The RIP harnesses EFI's Bestcolor software to provide speed, high productivity and colour quality, added EFI.
Additionally, the Vutek QS2000 utilises EFI's Colorproof XF - designed specifically for proofing, large-format production and photographic printing.
As a result, RPS benefits from a faster, more flexible workflow, which offers increased scope for expandability.
The Vutek QS2000 has changed production requirements to the extent that the company is already planning the purchase of a second unit to meet the increased demand for business.
"The Vutek is now printing round-the-clock, 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week, but in order to meet capacity we are looking at a second installation in the spring", explained Boyle.
A family business, Retail Print Solutions was created in 1981 as a wet-proofing house.
It subsequently entered the POS market thanks to its capability of offering cost-effective, short-run litho quality printing on to various substrates that surpassed the results achieved from screen or early digital systems, said EFI.
RPS's move in to digital technology expanded commercial opportunities, which through its acquisition of Vutek technology, is set to further increase the scope for business.
