Digital Proofing Monitor Supports URGRA
And FOGRA
EFI's Media Wedge CMYK v2.2 for the HP Designjet Z photo printer series now supports UGRA/Fogra (the Graphic Technology Research Associations of Switzerland (UGRA) and Germany (Fogra) .
The Media Wedge is intended for the monitoring of digital proofs and can also be used as a digital control aid to monitor the effect of imaging in CMYK mode and other pre-press work, added EFI The Designjet Z Series are HP's first printers with an integrated spectrophotometer

The new UGRA/Fogra Media Wedge CMYK v2.2 layout is specifically designed to take advantage of the Designjet Z Series' spectrophotometer, which is the industry's first to be embedded, claimed the company.
The new media wedge is already supported by EFI Colorproof XF, winner of the 2007 BERTL's best wide format award for best wide format pre-press and proofing system.
The software, with EFI Bestcolor technology, is claimed to transform inkjet and laser printers in to proofing and production systems, providing colour quality, flexibility and user-friendliness, said EFI.
EFI claimed that it is the first company to exploit this capability of the new UGRA/Fogra Media Wedge layout for the HP Designjet Z Series.
EFI's Colorproof XF supports the new layout in a way that proofs can be automatically printed, measured and verified.
The company added that that is an advantage for HP and EFI customers who benefit from the time and cost savings of a complete, automated workflow with UGRA/Fogra Media Wedge CMYK measurement-based verification.
Rick Parfitt, inkjet commercial division partner marketing manager at HP, said: "The combination of the Designjet Z Series printers and EFI's use of the new UGRA/Fogra Media Wedge in its Colorproof XF product demonstrates the potential for productivity improvements, as well as accurate colour management.
