EFI's Fiery XF RIP version 3.1 has been introduced to support the full line of solvent and UV Vutek superwide format printers from the company.

The new Fiery XF 3.1 is claimed to provide technology for superwide format printing for production and proofing requirements, providing processing, colour quality and increased productivity The Fiery XF software already offers exclusive connectivity to the EFI product portfolio

EFI claimed that Fiery XF users can profit from current and future integration with other EFI products in terms of streamlining production workflows, thereby increasing productivity.

The company said that for the first time, EFI Fiery XF 3.1 offers Clean Colour and full gamut technology for production and proofing purposes in a cross-platform application.

The new Clean Color feature directly addresses the production market's specific needs for vivid, saturated colour with pleasant modulation and clean appearance.

Clean Colour technology is said to provide an eye-catching appearance in all image areas, as well as precise and correct colours where they are needed, such as skin tones, grays and spot colours.

The feature can be run in automatic or custom mode and can even be switched off completely.

Fiery XF's colour management also offers a Full Gamut profile, exploiting the maximum colour gamut of printing equipment, added EFI.

Primary colours are reproduced and colour rendering is not limited by profiles.

Based on EFI's Bestcolor technology and its Clean Colour capability, Fiery XF version 3.1 provides a combination of correct colour reproduction and colour optimisation, it is claimed.

In addition, Fiery XF 3.1 is said to serve a wider range of printing establishments with the new XF Server on Macintosh OS X, providing a cross-platform application for Windows and Mac operating systems.

Fiery XF 3.1 eliminates the need to change to a mixed environment and reduces training time associated with learning new platforms.

Fiery XF 3.1 also includes a font checker to detect missing fonts and prevent type mismatches, a monitor profile selection tool that can turn a profiled monitor in to a soft proofing device.

pre-defined workflows to set-up and reduce set-up time and a back-up and restore mode to save reference, monitor profiles and the server configuration to enable restoration of the system if needed.

EFI Fiery XF software's modular structure is also claimed to offer a migration path to increased functions.

Users can add the Colour Verifier Option to ensure consistent colour quality, even on remote sites, or use the EFI Fiery XF software to connect xerographic devices for concept proofs or digital print runs.
