MIS's New Postage, Estimating, Security Features
The next release of the Hagen OA management information system will include enhancements for all clients and key integration changes to add-on products.
The EFI software is being previewed at Connect 2007 in Las Vegas (USA) today.
Created by EFI's advanced professional print software group, Hagen OA is claimed to be designed to support technology-driven printing operations, from medium-sized commercial printers to multi-plant enterprises.
It provides an accounting package with applications for estimating, job management, scheduling, purchasing, inventory and fulfillment.
The company added that Hagen OA allows users to collect, share, analyse and respond to information in real-time.
Some Hagen OA enhancements in the release include improved functions around the mailing module to better support the postage deposit workflow, user security copy features that support copying security profiles between companies and new estimating wide-format finishing standards to assist in the quoting of finishing operations, such as grommeting or sewing.
There is also a new finished goods order import utility and the expansion of the work centre and operation ID fields.
The company added that the enhancements have been requested by many clients and will be accepted by users.
The new version of Hagen OA is said to provide greater inter-operability with the JDF initiative.
Beginning with version 8.5, Hagen OA has been adding functions to the JDF workflow for sheetfed and pre-press devices, as well as digital device support.
The future version will better support digital devices through compliance with JDF for price list estimating and production processes, amongst other JDF enhancements, added EFI.
The new release includes tighter integration to Manhattan Associates' Integrated Logistics Solutions (ILS) for warehouse management and inventory control.
Enhancements to the integration between Hagen OA and ILS allow for greater flexibility in implementing and maintaining the interface and also offer improvements in the customer's ability to automate data movement within the workflow, said the company.
Hagen OA also has improved integration to Printersite Exchange, EFI's web-to-print software.
The integration lets printers' customers submit jobs from popular web applications and enables the printing plant to manage the planning, production, scheduling, invoicing and accounting of those jobs from within the Hagen MIS environment.
That has been improved to better support the sending of data between the website and Hagen, including customer details, contacts, shipment methods and expense codes to more completely create quotes and other job documents.
Jay Katzenberger, EFI Hagen OA product manager, said: "Core enhancements, many in direct response to client suggestions, continue to build on features centred on our client's processes, whilst we've also improved the integration with add-on products such as Printersite Exchange and Manhattan Associates' ILS.".
