Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Nov 27, 2007

Aiming to increase penetration of the UV wide format printing market, EFI has invested in San Jose, California (USA) company Raster Printers, which provides UV wide format printers branded Daytona.

Chet Pribonic, senior vice president and general manager of EFI Vutek, commented: "Raster Printers, under the leadership of Rak Kumar, has developed market-leading products in wide format UV inkjet printing.

By investing in Raster Printers, EFI continues to demonstrate its dedication to bringing the broadest array of innovative products to the printing industry, especially in the growing display graphics market.

Raster's products offer an ease-of-entry strategy for printers wishing to take advantage of the huge market opportunity offered by roll-to-roll and rigid substrate UV printing of display graphics." Raster Printers introduced its Daytona H700UV 72-inch hybrid flatbed printer with claimed photographic image quality and white ink at the SGIA 2007 conference in Orlando (USA) adding to its T600 vacuum table printer, which has grayscale MEMS print heads from Dimatix.

Rak Kumar, Raster Printers's president, said: "This partnership with EFI comes at a great time for our company and our customers.

As we continue to bring industry-leading products to market, collaboration with EFI will help us provide the quality and reliability that our customers expect and it will enable us to increase the level of innovation we can jointly introduce to the UV wide format market." He continued: "We are also excited about the opportunity to leverage EFI's global sales and marketing footprint to increase market awareness for Raster Printers' products and to gain access to EFI's large customer base.".
