New Proofing System For Wide And Superwide Format
Fiery XF has been introduced by EFI for production and proofing in the wide and superwide format printing market.
Said to be designed for print service providers, including manufacturers of signs, displays and decor for indoor and outdoor use, Fiery XF is claimed to provide high-speed processing, colour quality and increased productivity, as well connecting to EFI's product portfolio to streamline production workflows and increase productivity.
Based on EFI's Colorproof XF and Bestcolor Technology, Fiery XF is described as exploiting the company's colour proofing competence.
Fiery XF is claimed to provide Clean Colour and full gamut technology for production and proofing in a complete cross-platform application.
Clean Colour is said to directly address the specific colour needs of the display graphics market for vivid, saturated colour with modulation and clean appearance.
EFI added that Clean Colour provides an eye-catching appearance in all image areas, as well as precise and correct colours where they are needed, such as skin tones, greys and spot colours.
Additionally, the company added that Fiery XF's colour management provides a full gamut profile, exploiting the maximum colour gamut of a range of printing equipment from various manufacturers.
Primary colours are said to be reproduced perfectly and colour rendering is not limited by profiles.
Fiery XF also includes multi-tasking capabilities that allow RIP-while-print, print-while-profile and profile-while RIP.
It also features the proofing option to proof to international standards, whilst offering full Mac OS X support for client and server.
The system has a monitor profile selection tool, which is said to make every client workstation with a calibrated and profiled monitor in to a soft proofing device.
EFI added that a full set of production tools for the wide and superwide format market, including step and repeat, tiling and nesting for printing various files, file formats and colour spaces simultaneously on one device.
A modular structure to allow users to grow the system as their businesses grow, including integration with other systems from the EFI product portfolio, such as Print MIS and Web-to-Print products.
Fiery XF is available in three versions - Essential, Advanced and Premium.
They are said to allow users to select the level of functions that best meets their needs today and to add functions as their requirements and their businesses grow and change.
Stefan Spiegel, EFI's general manager for graphic arts solutions, said: "In the wide and superwide format markets today, many service providers drive their large format printers with Windows-based PCs.
This limits their ability to take full advantage of the capabilities of their large format output devices.
By switching to Fiery XF, users can access our server technology and a proven system that provides the best possible output from printing devices from a wide variety of manufacturers, including Epson, HP, Mimaki, Mutoh, Roland, and EFI's Vutek systems." He continued: "Also important in this market is the ability for designers and pre-press staff to operate the RIP from their preferred operating system environment.
To address this important requirement, Fiery XF offers both Mac and Windows clients.
In addition, wizards enable easy creation and optimisation of media profiles, saving operators time and reducing training requirements.".
