The ability to automatically enhance images embedded within a PDF file has been added to Enfocus's Pitstop in a partnership Dutch firm Elpical.
Enfocus's donation will enable students to gain proficiency with PDF tools that are pivotal to the use of PDF in the graphic arts industry.
The Enfocus products support the creation, editing, pre-flighting and correction of PDF files for a variety of uses such as high quality printing, advertisement delivery and re-working of artwork for the Internet.
All Enfocus products embody certified PDF technology.
The NSPC provides continuing education and bespoke courses that offer training and education on a national and international basis.
The college campus has excellent training facilities that include a modern press hall and pre-press facility.
The administration has focussed on developing sponsorships with many of Europe's largest printing equipment manufacturers and software companies.
Paul Kinsley, the CoVE co-ordinator at the NPSC commented: "As the National Printing Skills Centre is at the forefront of teaching pre-press and printing technology, we feel it is important to our staff, students and trainees to make available the latest standards within those industries.
Our industry contacts tell us that PDF has become the de facto standard file exchange format in the print and related industries.
Adding the Pitstop product range to our curricula ensures that we remain a leader in providing pertinent and standardised printing skills education." Enfocus said it actively supports training and educational efforts to foster a strong level of competence in working with the PDF format.
The NPSC, a division of Leicester College is the largest commercial training centre for printing courses in the United Kingdom and has been awarded the government's coveted 'Centre of Vocational Excellence' (CoVE) certification.
